LEADER HELPS

Evacuation

FIRE EVACUATION

  • Whenever the fire alarm sounds, everyone is to leave the building and wait in the designated waiting area, even if it is a false alarm or a drill.
  • Ensure you have your group’s attendance.
  • Help get children in line and disperse throughout the line to help ensure kids get out calmly and safely.
  • Primary exit is the outside doors closest to you.
  • Do a headcount & make note of any child unaccounted for.
Lock Down

LOCKDOWN

In the event of a lockdown, and we are UNABLE to leave the building, we will enter classrooms that are lockable. Some key points to remember:

  1. If you are closest to an exit, then leave the building & go to a safe outside location (Fire Hall) far from the building.
  2. If you are unable to leave the building:
    • Remain calm. Go into a room with a lockable door and cover the window. Do a headcount and help kids remain quiet.
    • Move furthest away from the windows and doors.
    • Wait until a police office or someone with a key comes to let you out of the room. We will remain in the classrooms until told by police to exit or someone with a key comes to unlock.
  3. GREEN Zones > More Secure - rooms that have doors that lock
  4. RED Zones > Open Areas - places like the gym, foyer, fellowship hall etc.
  5. If a Lockdown is called you will hear "LOCKDOWN CODE RED"
