What We Believe

  1. … in the Bible as the inspired and infallible Word of God (2 Timothy 3:15-16).
  2. … in one God, eternally existent in three persons; Father, Son and Holy Spirit (Deuteronomy 6:4, Matthew 28:19, Mark 12:29).
  3. … in the virgin birth of Jesus Christ, His vicarious atoning death, bodily resurrection, and ascension(Isaiah 7:14, Romans 8:34, Acts 1:10).
  4. … in salvation through the atoning death of Jesus Christ (1 John 5:10, Romans 10:13-15).
  5. … in believer's baptism by immersion (Matthew 28:19).
  6. … in divine healing for the body through the completed work of Jesus Christ on the cross (Isaiah 53:4, Matthew 8:16-17, James 5:13-14).
  7. … in the baptism with the Holy Spirit with the beauty of spiritual language (Acts 2:4, 10:44-46, 15:8-9), and the Scripturally ordered exercise of the gifts of the Spirit in the ministry and worship of the local church today (1 Corinthians 12, 13, and 14).
  8. … in the sanctifying power of the Holy Spirit which enables believers to live a holy life (Hebrews 12:14,1 Peter 1:15-16).
  9. … in the second coming of Jesus Christ (Acts 24:15, Luke 14:14, Revelation 19:7-9).
  10. … in the physical resurrection of both the saved and lost from the dead; the saved to everlasting life in heaven, the lost to eternal damnation in hell (John 5:24-29).

Membership Covenant

  1. Having been led, as we believe, by the Spirit of God, to receive Jesus Christ as the Lord, Savior, and, supreme Treasure of our lives, and, on the profession of our faith, having been baptized in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, we do now, in the presence of God and this assembly joyfully enter into covenant with one another as one body in Christ.
  2. We engage, therefore, by the aid of the Holy Spirit, to walk together in Christian love, to strive for the advancement of this church in knowledge, holiness and peace; to promote its spirituality and fruitfulness; to sustain its worship, ordinances, and discipline; to welcome, and test biblically, instruction from the Scriptures, seeking to grow toward biblical unity in the truth; to contribute cheerfully and regularly to the support of the ministry, the expenses of the church, the relief of the poor, and the spread of the gospel through all nations.
  3. We also engage to maintain family and personal devotions; to educate our children in the Christian faith; to seek the salvation of our kindred and acquaintances; to walk circumspectly in the world; to be just in our dealing, faithful in our engagement, and exemplary in our conduct, to avoid all gossip, slander and excessive anger; to seek Gods help in abstaining from practices which bring unwarranted harm to the body or jeopardize our own or another's faith.
  4. We further engage to watch over one another in brotherly love; to remember one another in prayer; to aid one another in sickness and distress; to cultivate Christian sympathy in feeling and courtesy in speech; to be slow to take offense, but always ready for reconciliation and mindful of the rules of our Savior to secure it without delay.

We covenant together not to engage in any conduct, or seek any services from this church, which are not in keeping with the teaching and constitution of this church, or which would place the church in a position where it might be required to support or advance a lifestyle or activity which the church deems morally inappropriate.
  6. We covenant together that if for any reason we shall depart from the faith, or cease to attend this church, or cease to live a godly life, or change our essential doctrinal beliefs as taught by this church, we shall consider it just to be automatically released from membership in Cedarview Community Church.
